“HALIFAX, Aug. 15 —A letter to the marine and fisheries office here says that on the 31st ult. a partly decomposed body of a French fisherman was found in the lake on Sable Island, having floated through the channel. The only clothing on the body was two shirts and a pair of long sabots. The day following a broken dory was found with the word Victor painted on the stern. On the 5th inst. a lifebuoy was picked up. On it was painted Narquoise. Pitch pine timber, plank and board, washed on the north side of Sable Island on the 12th and 13th.”
