Anne Muecke has extensive experience and expertise in both environmental sciences and the arts. She studied at the University of Bristol (BSc in Geology, 1969), and at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design in Halifax (B Design, 1980). Before her retirement six years ago, Anne worked for thirty-two years with the environmental planning consulting practice Griffiths Muecke Associates (a company she co-founded), dealing with a wide range of projects including environmental assessment, oil and gas development impacts, integrated solid waste management planning and hazardous waste management, development plans for small communities and First Nations, church development, regional planning (Halifax Regional Municipality), urban redevelopment, and Green Network planning.
Anne has volunteered with arts and education organizations: fifteen years with Halifax Dance (on the Board of Directors and Chair of Black Tie fundraising events); seventeen years with Mocean Dance, a Halifax-based independent dance company (as founding board member and chair for six years); six years with Frontier College tutoring adult learners in Math at the Cunard Learning Centre; and four years at Bedford South School supporting non-English speaking new students in learning beginner English and working with Grade 4 students on reading and understanding books.
Anne’s other interests include dance and fitness, book club (fifteen years), self guided walking in Europe, and learning languages.
